Mojo misses out on film brief for Burn

Publicis Mojo has missed out on a brief for Coca-Cola’s energy drink burn, work that earlier this year saw the agency win at Cannes with a short film directed by Garth Davis.

Publicis Italy was chosen to create the latest installment of ‘Ride’ instead. The ad will run globally in cinemas, online and at skateboarding events.

The four-minute film was created by Curious in Sydney and directed by New Zealander Ash Bolland. Sydney post house Cutting Edge handled visual effects and animation.

Boland said: “Professional skaters spend their lives traveling the world, crashing on people’s apartment floors.  It’s a grass roots profession, and I wanted to depict it in an authentic way, which is why the film opens with one of the guys falling off his board. There’s something about starting off with a failure that instantly makes it a lot more honest.”
