Momentum Worldwide Aus recruits ECD Matt Batten

Independent creative agency Momentum Worldwide Australia (Momo) has appointed Matt Batten as ECD based in Sydney.

Batten was most recently ECD at Edge for three and a half years, and prior to that spent more than six years at Wunderman in Sydney and London, the latter role including regional creative leadership for offices across EMEA, as well as more than five years at BMF and two stints with Saatchi & Saatchi.

Batten replaces Phil Watson who departed the agency after three years to be a strategic
consultant.

Momo’s work includes creative multi-channel advertising, experiential, and shopper marketing. It has recently won three new accounts: E45 skincare, 3M Command and Inghams.

“In a year that was full of hard decisions, Matt was the easiest one to make,” said Gus Guthrie, founder and director of Momo. “What sets Matt apart is that he’s a creative heavyweight and natural leader in equal measure.”

Batten will oversee the strategic and creative work for all the agency’s clients in Australia
and New Zealand including household names Heineken, American Express, Dettol, Strepsils. The agency has a strategic alliance with the IPG-owned global network Momentum Worldwide.

“Having Matt’s creative leadership and experience on board, and several new business wins, we are looking at a very positive start to 2021,” said managing partner Imelda Hodson.

Batten added: “After several meetings with Gus and Greg, the founders of Momo AU, I could see how aligned they were in a vision for the agency’s future.”
