More than 750,000 tune in for Ten’s Bachelor in Paradise proposal finale

The finale of Ten’s new Bachelor spin-off, Bachelor in Paradise, achieved 774,000 metro viewers as Sam Cochrane proposed to Tara Pavlovic in the final moments.

OzTAM’s overnight preliminary ratings revealed the proposal in the final moments of the show was most popular amongst the 16-39 and 18-49 demographics. The final episode itself, which ran from 7:30pm, pulled in 661,000 metro viewers.

Bachelor in Paradise’s proposal grabbed 774,000 metro viewers

The biggest audience for the grand finale was in Melbourne, with 245,000 viewers.

But overall the grand finale episode was slightly down on the premiere of Bachelor in Paradise’s first local season, which attracted 750,000 metro viewers.

Both Nine’s The Voice and Seven’s My Kitchen Rules were able to beat Bachelor in Paradise, with audiences of 1.103m  and 905,000 metro viewers respectively.

In the later time slot, the premiere of US sitcom Roseanne on Ten managed 463,000 metro viewers, collecting a top 20 spot.

The revived series premiered in the US back in March and had 18m viewers according to overnight figures, which climbed to a record-breaking 27.3m when delayed figures were added to the mix.

Locally, ABC’s Four Corners was more popular, with 626,000 metro viewers from 8:30pm. Following Four Corners, ABC’s Media Watch had a metro audience of 622,000.

On Seven, Mark Bouris’ new show The Mentor, averaged a metro audience of 472,000 from 9pm.

Seven lucked out with another win on the news front. At 6pm, Seven News captured 1.017m metro viewers, beating Nine News’ 990,000.

Ten’s Bachelor in Paradise and Roseanne helped the channel to a 12.3% share. But it was unable to defeat the ABC, Seven or Nine, with shares of 21.7%, 19.5% and 14% respectively. SBS’ share was 5.4%.
