More than half of female journos ‘sexually harassed’

Female journalists are subject to sexual harassment in the newsroom, a survey carried out by Monash University suggests.

The Australian reports: “57 per cent of the 577 female journalists surveyed by researcher Louise North this month said they had experienced sexual harassment, with more than half reporting incidents that had occurred in the past five years. In almost all cases the harassment involved a man who was either a colleague or in a senior position.”

The findings will be presented at a conference in Canada later this year.
