Mumbrella has bolstered its editorial team with experienced journalist Emma Shepherd and Masters of Media and Communications graduate Calum Jaspan recently joining the team.

Shepherd joins as senior journalist at Mumbrella having had experience as a reporter at Bauer Media (now Are Media), Yahoo! Australia and The Daily Mail Australia among other positions.

Jaspan, meanwhile, joins in the position of journalist, having most recently spent time in the UK completing a Master of Media and Communications at Goldsmiths, University of London, graduating with distinction.

He has previously worked as a researcher and production assistant for online sustainability platform RE:TV in London, along with completing internships at the Evening Standard and the ABC London bureau.

Jaspan is based in Melbourne, giving Mumbrella a reporter on the ground in one of Australia’s largest markets in the media and marketing industry.

Furthermore, Mumbrella Pro researcher Anna Macdonald has been promoted to the position of editorial assistant. Having spent a year as researcher, overseeing a complete overhaul of the industry directory within the subscription site, Macdonald will transition to reporting, working directly with the editorial team.

Meanwhile, Mumbrella reporter Zoe Wilkinson has departed the team to take up the position of brand director at TBWA.

Wilkinson spent two years at Mumbrella and was most recently also producer of the Mumbrellacast, Mumbrella’s weekly podcast. She joins former Mumbrella editorial staff Abigail Dawson and Brittney Rigby who have also transitioned to agency roles.

“I’m excited to welcome Emma and Calum to the team and have Anna work more closely with editorial,” said Mumbrella’s head of content, Damian Francis. “The trio add depth and fresh ideas to an already strong team which we intend to keep growing, with another position out in market currently.

“It’s also exciting to have someone on the ground in Melbourne, one of the most important markets in our industry. Calum has been quick to get out and start to do the rounds and that will continue.

“I’d also like to take the opportunity to thank Zoe for her significant contribution to Mumbrella over the last couple of years. While it’s a shame to see her leave, it’s good to see the industry acknowledging the strength of the editorial team here by hiring them into key posts within their businesses.”

Zanda Wilson will take over from Wilkinson in producing the weekly Mumbrellacast.
