Mumbrella announces new editorial roles

Mumbrella has announced a group of new key editorial roles to strengthen its position in market and keep it as the leading Australian media and marketing publisher.

Olivia Kruimel will return from maternity leave on January 9 in the role of editor, overseeing all editorial output including the daily newsletter.

She’ll work with a team of five journalists.

Calum Jaspan has been appointed news editor and will work closely with Kruimel on the news output including the daily newsletter, special investigations and the Mumbrellacast.

Jaspan moves up from his previous position as senior journalist.

Emma Shepherd has been appointed features editor and will help shape the features and opinions content on Mumbrella with Kruimel.

Shepherd takes the role after more than six months as acting deputy managing editor and has a long history of feature writing including working at Are Media and Yahoo.

Kruimel, Jaspan and Shepherd will be joined by reporters Kalila Welch and Darcy Song, with Lauren McNamara as editorial assistant.

Meanwhile acting managing editor Andrew Banks has decided to step away from Mumbrella to take a break at the start of 2023. He will finish out the year with the business.

“Olivia’s return plus the new roles filled by two of the most promising journalists in trade media put Mumbrella in an extremely strong position as we enter 2023,” said Mumbrella’s editorial director, Damian Francis.

“I would also like to thank Andrew Banks for his tremendous contribution this year and the way he has carried the Mumbrella brand. We will miss him dearly.

“We’ve got significant editorial goals next year and I’m confident we can achieve them with this team and the backing of our parent company Diversified Communications.”

Mumbrella will also be hiring for two additional positions – that of event content editor and bespoke editor. Job ads for both will be posted next week.
