Mumbrella appoints experienced marketer and journalist Olivia Kruimel as managing editor

Mumbrella has announced the appointment of Olivia Kruimel to the position of managing editor – news & analysis following a significant recruitment search, which began during the restructure of the content and editorial team in August.

Kruimel starts at Mumbrella tomorrow, Thursday October 29, and joins from Standard Chartered Bank where she was senior marketing manager, transaction banking, based in Singapore.

Former Singapore-based Standard Chartered senior marketer Kruimel has been appointed as Mumbrella’s managing editor

She will lead the editorial component of the content team managing the news agenda for Mumbrella and the curation of the daily newsletter. She will also contribute to the Mumbrellacast, Mumbrella’s range of industry conferences and other Mumbrella content initiatives.

Kruimel has extensive marketing, communications and journalism experience. Aside from Standard Chartered Bank, she has also previously worked at Clyde & Co, Holding Redlich and DLA Piper in marketing and communications roles.

As a journalist, Kruimel has held positions at Thomson Reuters, Nine (as Fairfax) and Reed Business, where she worked as a reporter for B&T under Mumbrella’s founder and editor-at-large, Tim Burrowes.

Kruimel will work directly with the restructured content and editorial team, in particular, deputy managing editor – news & analysis, Brittney Rigby.

She will report into Mumbrella’s head of content, Damian Francis.

Francis said: “We are excited to have someone of Olivia’s calibre joining Mumbrella. Her experience across marketing, communications and journalism is quite unique. She has a strong news background, has previously worked as a media and marketing reporter and has first hand experience in marketing and communications for global brands. I have no doubt she will become a significant voice in the industry.

“With a substantial and talented team, Mumbrella is well positioned to continue to lead the media and marketing news agenda with an unfaltering focus on the business of the industry.”
