Mumbrella appoints Seja Al Zaidi as finance writer
Seja Al Zaidi has joined the Mumbrella team as its finance journalist, spearheading our publication’s coverage on the financials of advertising, marketing and media sectors.
Al Zaidi joins the team after a stint interning at The Conversation in Melbourne, and hopes to bring fresh financial reporting and insights on the enterprising nature of the industry.
Al Zaidi studied a double degree in commerce (marketing) and international business at the University of Sydney before pursuing a career as a reporter.
The appointment brings the editorial team back to full compliment, following the exit of campaigns and creative journalist Anna Macdonald, who left to join The Mandarin. Macdonald was instrumental in bringing the Mumbrella Pro database up to speed and was responsible for a significant number of breaking and important stories for the Mumbrella team.
Al Zaidi’s move also follows the signing of Darcy Song as Mumbrella’s editorial assistant, the role vacated by Kalila Welch, who has been promoted to Mumbrella’s creative and campaigns journalist.
Song has most recently completed a master of publishing at Sydney University.
Other recent promotions include Calum Jaspan to senior journalist and Mumbrellacast producer, while Emma Shepherd has moved into the Acting Deputy Editor role.
“We really thrilled to have Seja on the team, and are looking forward to expanding our financial reporting for our readers,” said acting managing editor Andrew Banks. “Mumbrella is building a young, focused group for when our managing editor Olivia Kruimel returns from maternity leave in the new year.”
