Mumbrella managing editor to depart to head up Rolling Stone Australia
Mumbrella’s managing editor Neil Griffiths will finish up with the publication at the end of the year, before taking on the editor-in-chief position at Rolling Stone Australia in January.
Over the past year, Griffiths had led the editorial team and daily news content and has supervised the development of all the company’s editorial projects, including the revitalisation of the Mumbrellacast, the launch of the one-on-one podcast series, new columns, and coverage of Mumbrella’s industry-leading events, including Mumbrella360.
In January, Griffiths will join The Brag Media as Rolling Stone Australia’s new editor-in-chief, which he has described as a dream role.
He will work closely with head of content, Lars Brandle, overseeing the Rolling Stone Australia editorial team and shaping its overall content strategy.
“I’ve had an incredible year at Mumbrella and am so thankful to them for putting their trust in me to lead the editorial team. I’m proud of what we’ve all achieved, the dedication the team has put in this past year and the relationships I’ve made that I’ll take with me,” Griffiths reflected.
“While I’m very excited to return to music and entertainment where my career started, I’m grateful for what this past year has brought to my professional and personal life.
“Everyone on the Mumbrella team are experts in their craft and I look forward to continuing to follow their industry-leading work,” he added.
Adam Lang, publisher at Mumbrella, thanked Griffiths for his incredible efforts of the past year.
“Mumbrella has accomplished so much in 2024. Twelve months ago, we decided on our purpose to challenge and inspire the marketing and media industry to be the best in the world. We knew we had to be exceptional, bold, and insightful in editorial content, events, and commercial solutions,” he said.
“Working with Neil has been all of those things. Aside from being the head of our editorial team, Neil has been a driving leadership team member, positively impacting our events, podcasts, and commercial results. We have had a blast together.
“Neil leaves Mumbrella proud and we are happy to see his career move into an exciting new stage.”
Lang concluded: “Mumbrella is now looking for our next editorial leader and I welcome anyone interested to let me know.”
Griffiths’ last day with Mumbrella will be December 20.
The wider Mumbrella team wishes to thank Neil for his incredible contribution to the business, and the best of luck for the new gig.
