Mumbrella Sports and Entertainment Marketing Summit launches with DDB, OMD and The Brand Builders to speak

For 2022, Mumbrella has merged the Sports Marketing Summit with the Entertainment Marketing Summit (formerly BeFEST) to form the Mumbrella Sports and Entertainment Marketing Summit, set to take place in Sydney on 7 April, 2022.

Key industry figures from across both disciplines will present sessions and participate in panel discussions throughout the day, with DDB Sydney, OMD Australia, The Brand Builders and Jellysmack already confirmed to speak.

DDB Sydney’s executive creative director Matt Chandler and OMD Australia’s national director – sport partnerships Aaron Miller will pair up to present their thoughts on the power of big sporting events and how best to use them as an advertising and engagement vehicle for brands.

Against the backdrop of Australia’s massive slate of sporting events including AFL and NRL Grand Finals, the Australian Open, Australian Grand Prix, Bathurst 1000 and more, the duo will discuss the power of these local sports, drawing on DDB and OMD’s work with McDonald’s to create its End of Night campaign which won Nine’s State of Originality competition.

Meanwhile, leading experts in personal and athlete brands, Vickie Saunders and Charlotte Woods from The Brand Builders, will explore how to create a sporting culture that values and develops an athlete’s unique brand in a way that can benefit everyone.

The session will touch on what an athlete brand actually is, how it can be nurtured and developed, and why their personal brand development benefits more than just them.

Jellysmack country head ANZ Ezechiel Ritchie

In addition, discover why sports and entertainment brands should act like content creators in a presentation by Jellysmack country head ANZ, Ezechiel Ritchie. Exploring a creator economy landscape with an estimated global worth of $133 billion, Ritchie will discuss how to utilise multi-platform video content in order to reach incremental audiences, drive more engagement and generate more revenue.
