Mumbrella Sports Marketing Summit full program revealed with Olympic gold medallist confirmed to speak

Mumbrella’s Sports Marketing Summit is ready for kick-off next Thursday, as Nine’s sports partnership leader, an Olympic gold medalist and A-Leagues’ head of marketing join existing industry heavyweights and complete an unmissable lineup of sports marketing leaders.

Fresh off the back of the Olympics broadcast rights it secured this year, Nine Entertainment is bringing out a panel of industry experts including CMOs, athletes, and leading journalists to discuss the growth of sport platforms, in particular the Olympics, Paralympics and women’s sport.

L-R: Toby Boon, Anne Gruber, Konrad Marshall, Allana Ferguson and James Tomkins

Led by Toby Boon, director of strategy and creative solutions at Nine, the panel consists of Anne Gruber (director of content partnerships – sport, Olympic and Paralympic Games, Nine), Konrad Marshall (senior writer, Good Weekend),  Allana Ferguson (Nine’s Sunday Footy Show panelist and NRL commentator), and James Tomkins (Australian rower, seven-time World Champion and three-time Olympic gold medalist).

Delegates will discover how marketers can make use of an explosion of new trends and sports in the lead-up to the Brisbane Olympics 2032.

Also speaking is Simone Green, head of marketing at A-Leagues. The Matildas’ successful Women’s World Cup campaign put them onto the radar of more brands and advertisers and women’s football is enjoying its moment as the centre of attention in the sports world.

But Green asks us to never forget that football is nothing without its passionate fans. In fact, fan engagement is essential to any modern marketing strategy.

Join this session as it outlines the A-Leagues’ turnaround, rebrand, newly founded fan representative committee and much more, all designed to deliver what we the code is committed to doing – grow women’s football.

Directly following the summit, the Mumbrella Sports Marketing Awards are also returning for the first time since 2019, with categories including Sports Agency of the Year, Sports Campaign of the Year, Best On-Ground Activation and Best Athlete Partnership.

The awards will be hosted by Ruan Sims, rugby league commentator for Nine Network, who has won World Cups for Australia in rugby sevens (in Dubai in 2009) and rugby league (in England in 2013).
