Mumbrella to open Melbourne operation headed by Robin Hicks

Robin HicksMumbrella is to open a Melbourne office headed by managing editor Robin Hicks.

Hicks, currently based in Sydney, will move shortly and move to the new role of Melbourne Editor.

On Wednesday evening Hicks will moderate Mumbrella Question Time Melbourne at the Marriott Hotel. The session features Carlton Football Club’s GM of communications Ian Coutts, agency relationship consultant Darren Woolley, Mark McCraith, chief operating officer of media agency Maxus and adman Sean Cummins.

Hicks, who will cover the Melbourne beat and continue to contribute national coverage said: “Every time I visit Melbourne’s agencies I’m struck by the fact that some of the best work in the country is coming out of Melbourne, but does not necessarily get the credit it deserves. I’m looking forward to helping contribute in a small way to changing that.”

During his time at Mumbrella Hicks has also edited two books – the Mumbrella Creative Agency Review and the Mumbrella Media Agency Review.

Hicks has previously worked on some of the world’s best known media and marketing titles including as southeast Asia editor of Media magazine in Singapore, reports editor of Campaign Magazine in London and assistant editor on Media & Marketing Europe.

Hicks said: “I’m looking forward to catching up with my many existing Melbourne contacts, and getting to know those who I haven’t had a chance to do so yet. For starters, I’m looking forward to introducing myself at Question Time next week.”
