Mumbrella Asia unveils judging line-up of 113 media and marketing executives for revamped awards

Mumbrella Asia has assembled a line-up of 113 media and marketing executives to judge the Mumbrella Asia Awards 2017, a ramped regional advertising awards program that sees the introduction of 16 new categories for its third incarnation, and the competition opened up to entries from Australia and New Zealand.

The judges – which have more than doubled in number on last year – represent all corners of the industry – clients, recruiters, ad techies, consultants, media owners, content marketers and entrepreneurs.

New faces this year include the 30 year-old CMO of Go-Jek, Piotr Jakubowski, Nelly Gocheva, the global editor of the New York Times’ brand studio, and Eshan Ponnadurai, the newly appointed Asia Pacific marketing director for Uber.Mumbrella Asia Awards tile

Venus Teoh, head of marketing for Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore, Huawei’s regional marketing director Matthew Ho, the Singapore government’s top tech marketer, Lena Goh of the Infocomm Development Board, and Ali Bullock, the Infiniti marketer who called for a client boycott of Grey after the ‘I Sea’ app saga, will also be officiating.

The industry’s two most powerful companies are present on the panel; Google’s head of consumer marketing for Southeast Asia, Pete Nuchanatanon, and Facebook’s group head of multinational brands and agency for Southeast Asia, Justin Halim.

They will be judging a new-look line up of categories that will assess the best work from around the region in native advertising, 360-degree video, AR, VR, real-timing marketing and programmatic.

Best use of gamification and campaigns that show how best to localise a global strategy, and an award dedicated to engaging with millennials are also new this year, as are awards for creative effectiveness and film craft.
