Murdoch’s mea culpa turns off ACA audience as Gruen goes out with 1.4m

Australia’s Next Top Muddle may have dominated media conversations on Wednesday, but Sarah Murdoch’s side of the story failed to set A Current Affair’s ratings alight.

The show rated an average audience of 1.124m for Nine according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam.

It was ninth for the night, well behind Seven’s Today Tonight, which was fifth with 1.335m.

Meanwhile, Nine’s renovation challenge The Block’s audience almost held up on its debut figures, delivering 1.122m.

However, it was again beaten into third place by Seven’s Border Security and The Force and Ten’s Glee.

Nine’s The Boss Is Coming To Dinner – a hybrid of the Apprentice and My Kitchen Rules – had a poor second outing, rating an average of just 655,000, 21st for the night. It was beaten into fourth place by Seven’s City Homicide, Ten’s House and The ABC’s Spicks & Specks and The Gruen Transfer.

The Gruen Transfer, which ended its thrid series last night, finished with another strong performance of 1.403m, the second biggest show of the night.
