Mutinex leadership shake-up: Danny Bass departs, John Sintras returns to Australia

Danny Bass is set to leave Mutinex at the end of the month as the company undergoes a major restructure.

Bass has been with Mutinex for just over a year, having joined in July 2024 as chief revenue officer. He previously worked as CEO of Dentsu Media ANZ, as well as IPG MediaBrands Australia, and held senior positions at WPP Media, Snap, and News Corp.

Bass’ departure was announced on Linkedin by Mutinex’s co-founder Henry Innis. It is one of many changes at the marketing measurement company, as it “continue[s] to adjust” its structure to “best handle our growth”, according to Innis.

The move echoes last year’s exit of former APAC CEO Mat Baxter, who left after less than six months in the role, citing that “there’s not enough space for Henry and I in the day-to-day business”.

Innis wrote: “Danny Bass has decided to leave the business at the end of September. Danny has done a great job building and developing our sales function as chief revenue officer. It is now time for us to focus more of our resources on the US market.”

Mark Tovbis will step up as interim commercial director in Bass’ absence, reporting to Shave Treeves, who has been promoted from chief of staff to chief operating officer.

“Danny goes with thanks and appreciation from Matt [Farrugia], myself, and the wider Mutinex board,” Innis wrote.

Also in the revenue space, former Nielsen VP Rich Perez has joined Mutinex as a growth leader in the US market. He has over a decade of MMM experience, first as a marketer, and most recently having led Nielsen’s marketing effectiveness practice.

Hugh Osbourne has also stepped up from a partnerships role to run Mutinex’s revenue operations function, reporting to operations leader Ella Huang.

Sintras is returning to Australia

Elsewhere, the restructure will see John Sintras return to Australia after leading Mutinex’s US operations for the past three years. He will remain in the Mutinex business, but it is unclear what his role will be.

“Being away from his family has been incredibly challenging and John has decided that now is the right time to return home to them. We welcome The Sint back to the Aus market and you can look forward to seeing him at some upcoming events,” Innis wrote.

Mutinex’s head of people and culture Barbara Ramirez, and head of engineering Nik Zavordogny, have both entered the company’s senior leadership team, while interim head of product Peter Photinos has been made permanent in the role after six months.

Outside of the senior leadership team, other changes include the promotions of Will Marks to head up the model quality and marketing data teams and Nicky Barton to lead the marketing science team. Alexiy Charamanko has moved into the model foundry team, while Joseph Kang steps up to lead the model scale team. Finally, Jamee James has been promoted from associate product manager to product manager.

Innis concluded the post with: “We’ll be announcing more – particularly on our US expansion – alongside some incredible new hires soon. We’re confident that these changes will continue to strengthen the business with more rocket-ship growth.”
