Warne clean bowled as 797,000 viewers tune in to Ten for spin king’s jungle exit

Ten’s I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! saw the dismissal of Shane Warne, the show’s major audience hook since his participation was revealed, with 797,000 tuning in to the watch the spin king’s departure.

Shane WarneWarne had been a key source headlines and humour throughout his jungle stay, with Ten consistently drawing storylines from his foot-in-mouth forays.

But it was Seven’s My Kitchen Rules which dominated Wednesday night viewing, drawing an audience of 1.494m, up more than 100,000 viewers on the previous week as the network won the night easily with a 26% main channel share.

Seven’s cause was aided by the settled performance of First Dates at 9:00pm, which lifted slightly on the previous week to record an audience of 754,000 to finish just outside the top 10.

Top shows from number two through seven were split between Nine news at 6:00pm (1.009m), Seven News at 6:00pm (986,000), Nine News at 6:30pm (974,000), Seven News/Today Tonight at 6:30pm (937,000), ABC News at 7:00pm (829,000) and ACA at 7pm (806,000).

The ABC’s most popular general entertainment show was Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery at 8:00pm, featuring Geoffrey Robertson – up strongly on the week before to 651,000.

Ten’s Madam Secretary, which drew an audience of 508,000 at 8:30pm was the most time-shifted show of the night, adding an extra 157,000.

Seven secured the overall win with 26%, ahead of Nine on 15%, Ten on 14.3%, the ABC on 12% and SBS with 5.4%
