Napoleon Perdis sponsors Australian Ballet
Make-up artist Napoleon Perdis has signed a three-year deal to sponsor The Australian Ballet.
The announcement:
April 2011. Australia’s leading makeup artist Napoleon Perdis is thrilled to announce his sponsorship of The Australian Ballet. The three-year relationship commences with the performance of the ultimate love story – Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet – at the Arts Centre in Melbourne, directed by famed choreographer Graeme Murphy in September. “I’m excited to be working with a company as commanding and awe-inspiring as The Australian Ballet,” says Napoleon.
Artistic Director of The Australian Ballet, David McAllister, said the Napoleon partnership was a beautiful fit for the company. “We’re thrilled that Napoleon will be creating a unique makeup collection especially for our world premiere season of Romeo & Juliet,” he said. “It’s the perfect example of a smart partnership extending beyond the stage and behind the scenes, with our dancers attending master classes with Napoleon’s top makeup artists and really benefitting from
this collaboration.”The theatrical makeup behind a powerful ballet tells as much of a story as the actual performance. “Like the score or the set design, the makeup direction establishes the mood for the performance.” A love story such as Romeo & Juliet calls for a soft romantic makeup look, while a performance like Madame Butterfly demands a powerful eye statement,” says Napoleon. “My team and I look forward to working with the company and creating a range of looks for each production over the next three years.”
What an interesting and potentially powerful association.
It’ll be fascinating to see how Napoleon leverages / activates this to generate business results.
