Travel marketing agency GTI has been appointed to the National Tourism Service of Chile’s PR account.

The agency will be responsible for developing a communications strategy to generate Australians’ interest in tourism in Chile.

GTI will be taking on the PR activities for the National Tourism Service of Chile

Vice minister of the Chilean Ministry of Economy, Development and Toursim, Mónica Zalaquett, stated that the growing number of Australian tourists to the country led to the engagement of GTI:

“We are seeing steady year-on-year growth in the number of Australians visiting Chile, with 52,500 visiting in 2018. Australians have a passion for adventure travel, and we are determined encourage more to visit by showing them the incredible adventures they can have in Chile and the increasing ease of getting here,” Zalaquett said.

Director of the National Tourism Service of Chile, Andrea Wolleter, said: “The strategy will also aim to increase the length of stay and spend of Australian visitors, reduce seasonality of visits and encourage travel to multiple Chilean destinations in one trip. Australia is a key priority for Chile because of the increasing accessibility through direct flights and air capacity as well as the ever-growing interest in adventurous and nature-based travel.”

GTI general manager, Georgia Gregerson stated that the agency was excited to take on the account.

“Chile has so much on offer. There aren’t many countries in the world that host such an extreme variation of landscapes. Whether it be world-class wineries, cosmopolitan cities, ski fields, deserts or the vast wilderness of the South, we look forward to showcasing Chile as a one-stop travel destination for Australian travellers and the ease of access from our capital cities,” Gregerson said.
