Neale Whitaker steps down as editor-in-chief of Vogue Living

Vogue Living editor-in-chief and The Block judge Neale Whitaker will be stepping down from the News Corp magazine in June in order to “concentrate on his varied media commitments including two television series currently in production”.

Neale Whitaker to finish up as editor-in-chief of Vogue Living

Whitaker – who joined Vogue Living three years ago after a stint as the editor-in-chief of Bauer Media’s Belle magazine – will remain with the magazine as editor-at-large and will continue to write his weekly Living column for News Corp’s Sunday mastheads’ Stellar magazine.

NewsLifeMedia’s prestige and lifestyle director Nick Smith said in a statement: “Neale has led Vogue Living for two and a half years and during this time he has refreshed the magazine, grown the brand through digital and social – in fact, doubling the already formidable social footprint to over 2.5million – and built an impressive events series.

“He also steered the brand brilliantly through the 50th anniversary of Vogue Living. It is a very special collector’s issue and a testament to Neale. I’d like to thank him for the terrific job he’s done as editor of Vogue Living and couldn’t be more delighted that he is remaining with the brand as editor-at-large.”

Whitaker said: “It was a very big decision to step down but I feel privileged to have edited Vogue Living, particularly through such a significant milestone as the brand’s 50th anniversary. I also feel confident that it is absolutely the right time to leave the day-to-day operations with the very talented team here, while being pleased to continue as Vogue Living’s editor-at-large.”

NewsLifeMedia will announce a new editor of Vogue Living in due course.

In the meantime, associate publisher – homes Claire Bradley will continue to guide the brand strategy for Vogue Living. Vogue Australia’s editor-in-chief Edwina McCann will care-take the editorial of the brand until a new editor is appointed.

Whitaker is also the co-host of Foxtel’s Love It Or List It.
