Network Ten announces Sochi 2014 mobile app

Network Ten will release a mobile app to provide live coverage and exclusive content during the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Network Ten today announced details of its Sochi 2014 On Ten mobile app, giving all Australians access to live coverage and exclusive content from the XXII Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

The Sochi 2014 On Ten mobile app, available on iOS and Android, will enable viewers to watch their favourite events and athletes anywhere and at any time, for free.

The app will feature eight simultaneous live streams, including all of the action live as broadcast on TEN and ONE, as well as six dedicated live streams straight from Sochi.

All Olympic events will be available as catch-up, with a unique highlights function that allows users to jump to key moments. The app will also provide access to live event results, athlete information, statistics and the medal tally, as well as a full schedule of events and coverage.

The new Sochi 2014 On Ten app will be available in the next week or so, for free, on iOS for iPhone and iPad at the Apple Store, for Android at Google Play and the Samsung App store, or on the web at www.tenplay.com.au.

Viewers will also be able to watch The XXII Olympic Winter Games via tenplay.com.au, which will host six dedicated 24-hour live streams, as well as full catch-up for all events, highlights packages and streaming of all related shows, including Sochi Tonight and Sochi Live.

Content will also be available via tenplay Xbox 360 and Xbox One, tenplay iOS, tenplay Windows 8 app and Sony Bravia IPTV app.

Network Ten Chief Digital Officer, Rebekah Horne, said: “Our strategy is to bring Network Ten’s content to people anywhere, any time and on any device, and the XXII Olympic Winter Games is no exception.

“Through our digital platforms, we will be able to offer Australians a viewing and engagement experience like no other. Users will be able to access exclusive and engaging content and watch live coverage on the go, never missing a moment of the action,” she said.

Network Ten’s coverage of the XXII Olympic Winter Games starts on the evening of Friday, February 7, and runs until the early hours of Monday, February 24.

Network Ten will broadcast more than 360 hours of live content from the Sochi Games on TEN and ONE, with total coverage of more than 560 hours across the two channels.

Sochi Tonight will spearhead TEN’s nightly prime time coverage from 6.00pm. Hosted by TEN’s Stephen Quartermain and Winter Olympic gold medalist Alisa Camplin, Sochi Tonight will be broadcast live from Network Ten’s Melbourne studio.

Live will bring viewers all the action, drama and suspense from the Games as it unfolds. Network Ten’s commentary team for the Winter Games also includes including Olympic Winter Games Gold medallist Steven Bradbury, Steven Lee, Mitch Tomlinson, Steph Hickey, Myf Warhurst, Matt Doran, Mark Howard, Brad McEwan, Greg Rust, Nicole Livingstone, Nuala Hafner, Magdalena Roze, Danielle Isdale and Scott Mackinnon.
