Network Ten stars crack under pressure in new tongue-in-cheek promo
Network Ten is launching a new station ID featuring the channel’s stars gathered in a mock support group for celebrities.
The promo will go to air on Sunday, a week before the official start of the TV ratings season.
It will feature an extension of its long-running “Seriously” brand positioning, with the tagline “Seriously Good TV”.
Channel Ten stars in the ad include Talkin Bout My Generation’s Shaun Micallef, So You Think You Can Dance’s Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Good News Week’s Paul McDermott, Amanda Keller and Mikey Robbins, MasterChef’s Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan, and Neighbours’ Margot Robbie.
They are shown sitting in a circle looking distressed and talking about how people expect them to be “perfect” or “funny”, and forget that even though they are celebrities they also have feelings.
Keller then says they are simply feeling the pressure of making 2010 as good as last year.
Micallef replies: “Oh we’ll deliver. We’ll deliver the goods. Grasp hands my friends!”
The scene then ends with the Ten stars holding hands and chanting “Seriously Good TV”.
New Idea, please take note.
Nice idea but surely they could’ve come up with a funnier script
@ Gezza – you can’t expect them to be funny all the time…
I kinda like it. Made me chuckle.
thats gr8… except the ending was a tad cheesey..
Was that the highlights of the best jokes from Talkin Bout Your Generation in 2009?
I expected it to be worse than what it actually was. It’s homorous the first time but hopefully it’s not on high rotation as it will become old very quickly
Why is this news?
I like the fact Channel Ten are trying something different. i think their creativity beats the other networks’ promos hands down…except for maybe SBS. Choice of music/ graphics/ editing…who would’ve thought we’d all be listening to Transvision Vamp again?? And liking it! 🙂 (Well i like it…)
I like it. Its spot on brand, and extends a well known, but ambiguous tag line into something that is a little more pointed. Seriously good TV (not taken to seriously) – lets hope the product delivers.
Like it. It’s different, and that’s really enough for me.
because it’s clever and funny!
Jojo, please learn to spell correctly..
Good fun – and lighthearted!
@MG You left 2 full stops on your sentence. Please learn how to punctuate correctly, troll.
Oh dear how sad. One chance in a 100 years to be 10 in 10 and this is it!
breaking convention. nice.
finally a bit of ‘disruption’ in the tv market.
