New caravan magazine Time to Roam Australia launches in print and online
A free travel magazine has launched today catering to the Australian recreational vehicle market.
Time To Roam Australia is an independent venture developed by Phillip Terry who has 25 years of experience in magazine sales and development. He has teamed with journalist Rod Bruem as editor.
The bi-monthly publication will be free in both print and as an online magazine. An initial 20,000 printed copies will be available at holiday and tourist parts, visitor information centres, and caravan dealerships.
Bruem said: “There is no other free publication like this in Australia and we are confident Australia will love Time to Roam.”
Terry said: “We’re catering to an industry and sector that hasn’t stopped growing for over 40 years. When the GFC hit, the caravan and camping industry went the other way, with new vehicle registrations doubling in some states.
“Time to Roam will cater to a broad range of readers with informative insights and information about what’s new, plus a dose of nostalgia including features on vintage and classic caravans from the 1930s through to the 70’s.”
The online version is available from www.timetoroam.com.au.
Their so called ‘online’ magazine is a 20mb pdf download, terrible.

Rob & I have been doing our PR bit and delivering the new Magazine to Caravan Parks, Tourist info centres and caravan dealerships for the past few days., in the Coffs up to Armidale region. Thus far it has been extremely well received. I think that people have been quite amazed that is it a free publication. Hopefully lots of them will come through with advertising so the mag can power on!!

Good to see a ’74 Millard (stock order number: 74867) still makes for a great magazine cover in this day and age….

Wayne it’s actually a 69 Viscount. Millard was later merged with Viscount, a story we will cover in a future issue

Thank you to all involved withe the new Magazine. I really enjoyed the the viscount caravan story. I worked for Viscount manys years ago and in our 4wd drive club, most of our members with caravans have old ones that we have renovated.
I will besure to pass on the mag at our next meeting.

My mistake. And I should know – I had some of the worst holidays of my life in a ’69 Viscount growing up as a kid in the 70s…..

Congratulations to Phillip. Rod and team for launching Time to Roam and taking on the significant challenge of publishing a magazine and corresponding web platform.
After reading this story I was curious to see how many magazine and website brands are targeted to this niche market – so further segmented media in MediaScope’s broader travel category and created a ‘caravanning, camping & cruising’ directory category.
I’ve added 26 magazines &/or websites into this category (excluding Time to Roam and a further 6 potential listings to approve and include in the coming days). Please see – http://www.mediascope.com.au/a.....g-cruising
Fascinating to see publishers building businesses and launching brands to target these highly niche audiences – and just how deep our media landscape actually runs.

@Denise, comment 12. This article is about the magazine,
not your 3rd party directory agenda! Blimey, some people do not
have any subtlety do they!

What a great little magazine – I think both readers and advertisers should support this product not only because its a great product but also they are an independent publisher driven by passion rather than returns to shareholders – which you can feel when reading the mag. Well one guys keep up the good work!
