New Idea launches Royals mini magazine

New Idea will run a weekly ‘mini magazine’ filled with coverage of the Royal family.

The first issue is available from today, and joins the New Idea Royals’ podcast and online vertical which is centred on the same topic.

The first edition is available today

It is inserted into the regular New Idea magazine.

This week’s edition features reporting on Christmas celebrations at Buckingham Palace. It will feature coverage from New Idea’s Angela Mollard, as well as reporter Phil Dampier and personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II, Darren McGrady.

Emma Nolan, editorial director of New Idea, said the first edition was filled with anecdotes about Christmas with the Queen.

“The most famous woman in the world, who could buy anything she wants, loves receiving cheap ‘joke’ presents from her family,” Nolan said.

“One of her favourites was apparently a plastic shower hat emblazoned with the words: ‘Ain’t life a bitch’ from her cheeky grandson, Prince Harry.”

Louisa Hatfield, general manager of family and entertainment at Pacific Magazines, said New Idea readers couldn’t get enough of the coverage.

“It’s been a big year for royal news and an even bigger year for New Idea which has a whopping five million touchpoints across print, social and digital,” Hatfield said.
