New Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes film gives big boost to Australian economy
This week’s release of the new Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes blockbuster has proved to be an asset for the Australian economy.
Filmed at Disney Studios Australia in Sydney from late 2022, the film – the fourth in the Planet of the Apes reboot franchise – employed more than 1,000 cast, crew and extras and injected $135 million dollars into the local economy, the local Disney team told Mumbrella this week.
The production also utilised the services of more than 700 vendors and local businesses.
“We’re thrilled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes was filmed on location at our Disney Studios Australia in Sydney, part of The Walt Disney Company’s significant local footprint here,” Walt Disney Company Australia and New Zealand senior vice president and managing director, Kylie Watson-Wheeler, told Mumbrella.
Certainly looks like an entertaining movie and definitely one for franchise movie followers but the whole “tipped to hit #1 at the Australian box office” thing… There are so few movies released on the big screen these days compared to before. It’s definitely no that hard to score #1 for a promoted big franchise film.
