New performing arts magazine Audrey Journal launches

Two Sydney arts journalists have launched an online magazine for Australians interested in performing arts.

‘Audrey Journal’ will explore theatre, performance, dance, opera and music and will be edited by freelance arts writer Elissa Blake and The Sydney Morning Herald’s theatre critic Jason Blake.

“We want to do more than take a deep dive into the performing arts through journalism. But we also want to find out what arts journalism can do, what value it has, how it can change and who it can reach,” the new website says.

“Audrey is made with the support of philanthropy and the support of the major performing arts companies and venues in Sydney and New South Wales.”

The website is designed by Alphabet Studio and created by Jala Design, and stresses the journal is independent and will look to reflect the wider community.

Founding members of the Audrey Journal include Shakespeare Bell, Carriageworks, Sydney Festival, Riverside and the Sydney Theatre Company.
