New sports platform 20Four to launch showing lives of Australian athletes
New sports media brand 20Four is to launch next month giving fans behind-the-scenes looks into the lives of sporting stars.
20Four says it will show what life is like as a professional athlete both in competition and in everyday life.
Accoridng to 20Four “all of Australia’s major sporting codes” will be covered including AFL, Rugby League, Netball, Cricket, Surfing, Snowboarding and Moto-X .
Former Fox Sports Australia head of strategy, research and analysis, Chris Haigh is fronting the company as CEO. Haigh left Fox Sports after his one-and-a-half year stint to start 20Four in August last year.
The company says that the management team also includes executives “from backgrounds such as the AFL, Fox Sports, Mindshare, News Corp and William Hill” but it has declined to name any of them at this stage.
A spokesperson from 20Four told Mumbrella: “Not only will we build unique audiences for this content but we will be able to harness the significant social reach and influence of the athletes themselves. We focussed on creating authentic branded and unbranded content that fans will want to see and won’t be polluting the user experience with pre rolls, banner ads or click bait.”
News Corp…It’s about time the individuals who make the team who make the sports clubs are focused on. This could be great journalism …ABC Sports used to cover the athletes this way and lead…it all went behind closed doors and became filtered…which just isn’t very interesting and quite frankly sucks.
Get this right and you will start something BIG….go to the heart of the person and you will discover SACRIFICE, AND COURAGE!

… but I’m sure the athletes will have be drinking Up&Go, or clearly applying nivea sunscreen in the content.
Unless, I’m expected to pay for access to this platform as a user?
