News Digital Media to rep IGN and AskMen

News Digital Media is taking on the repping of IGN and AskMen following the decision by MySpace to wind down most of its Australian operation. Locally, MySpace, IGN and AskMen had previously fallen within the remit of the Fox Interactive sales team.

The announcement:

News Digital Media’s commercial director, Tony Prentice, announced today that the company has entered into a commercial agreement with IGN Entertainment. From April 4, NDM will be the exclusive Australian sales representative of IGN.com and AskMen.com.

IGN.com is the world’s largest videogames and entertainment network and attracts 30 million monthly global unique browsers from males aged 18-34, one million of which are Australian. It features comprehensive, credible and irreverent content focussed on games and movies.

AskMen.com is Australia’s largest men’s lifestyle site. Featuring global and local content, the site appeals to the better man – aspiring young professional males, equipping them to think, know and live better. More than 300,000 Australians visit the site each month.

Mr Prentice said “We are excited and proud to have IGN and AskMen join our commercial network. Both sites are growing traffic and revenue very rapidly – a reflection of their worldclass content.

“As well as increasing the overall reach of the NDM network, this deal will boost our video inventory and improve our ability to target younger males – both very attractive propositions to our customers and clients.”

IGN Entertainment Australia’s publishing director, Narayan Pattison, said that the agreement would accelerate IGN’s already rapid growth and underline its position as one of Australia’s leading entertainment destinations.

“The IGN Entertainment sites are experiencing significant growth, with IGN.com’s audience expanding by more than 40% year-on-year in 2011, while AskMen.com experienced even more momentum at 60% year-on-year audience expansion.

“By connecting advertisers with engaged audiences online, and offline via integrations at its popular game and film launch events, IGN has executed many innovative campaigns with high-profile brands including Apple, Samsung and Wrigley, alongside our core theatrical and gaming campaigns.

“Working alongside NDM’s respected brands and talented sales teams will provide more opportunities to attract a broad array of advertisers and significantly grow our commercial business.”

As part of the agreement, IGN Entertainment’s current staff will relocate to NDM’s offices in Liverpool Street, Sydney. Additional staff will be recruited to complete the team.
