News Mags hire national group sales director for inserted mags

News Magazines has appointed Alistair McEwan as its national group sales director for Newspaper Inserted Magazines.

News Magazines’ commercial director Zara Curtis, is pleased to announce the appointment of Alistair McEwan as the national group sales director, newspaper inserted magazines (NIMs).

News Magazines NIMs group includes leading titles The Weekend Australian Magazine, WISH, sunday magazine, The Adelaide* Magazine, QWeekend and STM.

“This appointment reflects News Magazines’ commitment to providing the very best advertising team to further develop our highly engaged, market-leading brands and multi-media properties,” says Ms Curtis.

“Alistair joins us from the UK where he worked on similar modelled NIMs for The New York Times Company.

“His extensive experience in publishing gained across some of the leading international media brands will provide a new dimension to News Magazines’ NIMs division. Together with the sales team, he will deliver innovative, strategic and exciting solutions across our market-leading portfolio of titles.”

Mr McEwan has a solid background in publishing, including more than 15 years with leading international publishers including The New York Times and the International Herald Tribune. During this time he has held variety of senior roles and worked with some of the biggest international advertisers and championed the launch of numerous strategic initiatives. Most recently, Mr McEwan was the international advertising director for The New York Times where he led international print and digital sales.

Mr McEwan will report to Ms Curtis and will be responsible for developing and effectively implementing the strategic sales direction across the NIMs division, working with newsstand, digital and News Limited assets.

Alistair McEwan’s appointment is effective immediately.
