A month after Fairfax introduced its own metered paywall News Limited unveils plans to move its metropolitan mastheads behind similar barriers, changing the previous paywall structure for the Herald Sun under a new offering called News+.

Dumped former Campaign Palace ECD Paul Fishlock finally wins his long running court case against WPP for unfair dismissal. He is awarded $300,000. However, wranglings over the legal bills, thought to be a seven figure sum, are ongoing.

Network Ten picks up the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics for a reported cut-price $20m, with no channel electing to bid for the 2016 summer Olympics in Rio.
Qantas marketing director flys off
Lewis Pullen steps down as marketing director for airline Qantas after three years with corporate affairs chief Olivia Wirth taking marketing into her remit. Pullen will reemerge as head of marketing for NRL in October.
Lark departs
Commonwealth Bank’s high profile and controversial marketing head Andy Lark announces he is leaving the bank to join an undisclosed “exciting” project, and is replaced by Vittoria Shortt, previously head of marketing for the Bankwest division.
Worner replaces Voelte
Seven West Media’s TV boss Tim Worner lands a promotion to CEO of the whole operation replacing Don Voelte, with a salary of $2.6m.

Former BellamyHayden MD Sunita Gloster is appointed as CEO of The Australian Association of National Advertisers nine months after Scott McClellan stepped down.
Guardian launches digital edition
After months of preparation and speculation The Guardian launches its dedicated Australian news offering. It kicks off with an interview with then-Prime Minister Julia Gillard.

Clemenger BBDO Sydney ousts incumbent agency DDB for the coveted Tourism Australia account, taking over the work in July with digital duties falling to DT.
McGuire apologises for King Kong slur
Triple M Melbourne breakfast host Eddie McGuire is forced into a humbling apology after remarks comparing indigenous Sydney Swans player Adam Goodes to King Kong. The comments came days after a row erupted after a teenage girl called Goodes an ape during a match against McGuire’s Collingwood team.
