Next on The Gruen Transfer: making Facebook uncool for teens
In tomorrow night’s episode of The Gruen Transfer, Ogilvy takes on Arnold Furnace as the agencies attempt to make Facebook uncool for teenagers.
Here is Ogilvy’s effort:

Thanks Gavin, I’ve amended the story with the other air date.

This does not ring true for me at all.
Parents of teens are already on Facebook and teens still flock. What they don’t do however is ‘accept’ their parents friend requests, which means none of the things featured in the above video can be done anyway. Privacy settings also stop parents viewing what their kids are up to.
Not to mention that no teen I know would subject themselves to that ad for more than about 3 seconds.

I think you might have missed the point of what they do on Gruen Scott.

very funny, I really liked it. I really hope these comments don’t degenerate into a slag fest as per usual here.

@Rabs – really? I thought the point was to showcase creativity and effectiveness with a view to ‘winning’ the pitch.
I was unable to watch last night. Did this win?

Scott (Comment 3) is on to something here.
I think that ‘Mother’ is just an actress and not really who she claims to be.
The whole thing is a sham!!!

for every yoof not befriending their parents and electing to remain private there’s probably another who has accidentally left themselves open to the public
the only thing that’s certain is that yoof don’t really understand just how permanently public their FB information is

How come the contestants on this program never make serious commercials or, at any rate, take the challenge seriously? They attempt to out-funny each other and end up making tawdry comedy sketches rather than demonstrate their ability to make commercials…

BustedPancreas- Did you see the one attempting to sell air? I though the first ad, the one that won, was a viable product- brilliant production values and great concept.

@poppl…. What she is not a real mum? She is an actress? I thought all those mums were really mums? Like the mum with the boy in the nutri grain ad. She is not the real mum of the boy? Geez have I been sucked in!!! (lol)
