Nicole Kidman cover wins Maggies for Who
The 20th anniversary edition of Who magazine featuring Nicole Kidman grabbed the grand prize at last night’s Maggie Awards, while Burke’s Backyard came back from the grave to grab a gong as well.
The Pacific Magazine’s title grabbed the best weekly and overall category, whilst Burke’s Backyard claimed the competitive house and garden category for its last edition after being closed by Bauer, with a cover of a gnome with an axe in its head and the coverline “Axed”.
Other winners at the event, run by iSubscribe, included Empire for a James Bond cover in youth and pop culture, Marie Claire in fashion, health and beauty, and Choice in specialist.
Judge and head of the Magazine Publishers of Australia, Robin Parkes, said of Who’s cover: “This is an extremely impactful cover, and clearly the consumers agree. The combination of Nicole Kidman’s striking appeal with the dramatic use of colour is a real standout.”

Look, I think this kind of gratuitous filth on the cover of a magazine, this pornography , this blatant shocking attention seeking must be reined in.
The red head in red, the cleavage, the bare naked flesh. My children have seen this now and it is simply disgusting. Not a nice way to depict a poor little garden gnome.

Richard. I think he was asking for it. It’s plain to see he’s wanton.
