Nine announces new director of sales, and redundancies, ahead of 9Voyager launch

Nine has announced changes to its sales team in the lead up to launching 9Voyager.

Tim Rose will take on the newly created role of director of sales for Nine+. Rose will lead the new sales team with several senior sales roles under his belt, including a decade at APN Outdoor as national sales director, direct and NSW sales director.

Rose left this role in 2018 to launch his own consultancy, Australian Outdoor Consulting.

The restructure leading up to the launch of the new division has also seen redundancies in both technology and sales. Nine said the number of redundancies was “limited”.

9Voyager, which was announced at the 2019 upfronts, will act as a self-serve buying platform for small to medium businesses.

Nine chief sales officer Michael Stephenson said the Nine+ team would be the point of call for the businesses using the 9Voyager platform.

9Voyager was announced in October last year

“9Voyager is one of our major strategic initiatives in 2019. We have built world-class technology, we have simplified the TV buying process, we will launch with a brand-new proposition for SMEs, and we are ready to open our business to a whole new market,” said Stephenson.

“We are resourcing our business around high-growth products and new demand sources. Tim understands the needs of small-to-medium business owners and will launch 9Voyager when he joins.”

Rose said the company was clearly focused on growth and opening the business up to new markets.

“The Nine+ team will represent all of Nine’s assets to Australian SMEs and 9Voyager’s self-serve technology will give them a brandsafe alternative to Facebook and Google,” said Rose.
