Nine appoints its first chief data officer

Nine has created a new chief data officer role and appointed Suzie Cardwell, who will depart Scentre Group as a result.

The remit includes accelerating the media giant’s market lead by “leveraging data as a strategic asset across the group” to positively impact consumer and commercial experiences.

Cardwell, who brings 20 years of experience, including at News Corp Australia and Foxtel, will report to Nine’s chief digital officer Alex Parsons.

“We are delighted to welcome Suzie as our new chief data officer,” Parsons said.

“Her extensive experience and strong leadership in data strategy and planning in the media market makes her the ideal candidate to drive our data strategy.

“We believe that her expertise will play a pivotal role in optimising our operations and enhancing our consumer and commercial engagement across all of our digital platforms.”

She begins in the role next month.

Cardwell said: “Data has the power to revolutionise the media and entertainment industry, and Nine has a huge existing data asset and I am excited to leverage its potential to drive innovation, enhance consumer experiences and fuel business growth.

“I look forward to contributing to Nine’s digital transformation journey.”
