Nine comes out on top as The Block and Australian Survivor go head-to-head on Sunday night

The Sunday night win has again been handed to Nine after 975,000 metro viewers tuned in to watch The Block, making it the most-watched program for the evening. The show also held the top spot in two of the key advertising demographics – 18-49s and 25-54s.

The win was despite pressure from Ten, which has had several wins in the demographics across the last few weeks and took the top spot in the youngest demo – 16-39s – with Australian Survivor. Overall, 751,000 metro viewers tuned in for the show.

Seven held onto the top spot in the news battle – 944,000 metro viewers watched compared to 876,000 for Nine News. 599,000 metro viewers watched ABC News which airs an hour later at 7pm.

Seven’s 7:30pm offering of Australia’s Got Talent brought in 696,000 metro viewers, and 404,000 tuned in for ABC’s Judi Dench’s Wild Borneo Adventure.

245,000 metro viewers watched Nine’s NRL coverage of the St George Illawarra Dragons vs Wests Tigers which aired in Sydney and Brisbane only.

Nine took the win for Sunday night overall with a 24.5% audience share above Seven’s 18.5%, Ten’s 13.4% and ABC’s 9.2%. In the network audience share the hierarchy was the same – Nine held 33.2%, Seven 27.4%, Ten 19.3% and ABC 14.1%. 9Go was the most-watched multi-channel on a 4.4% share.

Nine’s primary channel also won the 16 to 39 demographic overall, with a 24.8% share. It had a winning 26.0% share in those aged 25 to 54. The network also won 16 to 39s, with 33.9%, and 24 to 54s, with 35.5%.
