Nine ditches Parade’s End
Nine has moved its World War One period drama Parade’s End to its digital channel GEM after just one outing.
The BBC-HBO co-production failed to attract viewers when it aired on Nine on Wednesday, pulling in audiences of 453,000 and 322,000 for its double episodes according to metro ratings from OzTAM.
The schedule change came too late to catch weekend TV guides. TV Tonight reports that Parade’s End will be replaced by the movie Sherlock Holmes.
lets leave ten out of this…

My bad.
(For those wondering what Anon, Jamies and Wayne are talking about, although the headline was correct, I had a brain snap and said Ten, not Nine, in the intro. Now fixed – apologies to Ten.)
Cheers,

Anyone surprised?

Maybe because it didn’t have any car-chases, footballers, celebrity chefs or bikini babes in it …..

Wrong demographic, wrong channel. ‘Parade’s End’ is better suited to an ABC or SBS late-evening audience, where it can find its feet.

Every show must have a beginning and although at first it was a little hard to follow, the following episodes were brilliant and worth waiting up for on Gem. Unfortunately a no show this week and missed greatly. The series won four BAFTAS including best actor, best actress and best screenwriter so it must be doing something right. A shame that some shows aren’t given more of a chance.
