Nine gears up for Ratings Mega Week
Nine has confirmed that the reboot of its 2012 schedule will take place when the official ratings period resumes after Easter with its new talent contest The Voice, the return of home renovation challenge The Block and the second series of Celebrity Apprentice all going to air.
Yesterday saw Australia move into the Easter non ratings period, which lasts for a fortnight.
Sunday April 15 will see Nine broadcast annual TV awards The Logies. The same night Nine will also air the premiere of The Voice, produced by Shine Australia.
The Voice is a global format. Last year it was a ratings hit in the US for NBC. It made its debut in the UK a week ago where it went head-t0-head with Britain’s Got Talent and dented its ratings.
Seven – which has consistently won the ratings so far this year – will strike back by launching Dancing With The Stars on the same Sunday.
Meanwhile, Monday April 16 will see The Block returned to its stripped daily 7pm format. Nine appears to be dropping the stripped format for Celebrity Apprentice which launches on April Wednesday 18.
Meanwhile Seven will be launching Australia’s Got Talent on the Monday.
Ten appears to be keeping its main ratings play in the locker for a week or two longer – it is holding a launch event in Melbourne for the fourth series of Masterchef on April 23. Meanwhile, the absence of AFL from its Saturday lineup has been hurting Ten, which has quietly dropped Graham Norton from its Saturday night lineup.
Arggh! Graham Norton on Sat night was the best! Another reason to switch off the box I guess.

Nine showing The Block and Celebrity Apprentice at the same time? What will they do in the latter part of the year?

Bad decision, it’s about the only show worth watching on Saturday nights on the big 3 networks. Looks like the DVD store or computer will get my attention now.Long live Graham Norton!!!

Can’t believe Ten is dropping Graham Norton and his (real) celebrity pulling power and hilarious format in favour of giving some scrapper from the Shire air-time to turn into another wannabe D-lister.

Norton was the only reason to watch TV on a Saturday night…

Are you sure about Ten dropping Graham Norton?
The show is on hiatus at the moment and won’t screen a new episode in the UK until Series 11 starts Friday 13th April. By my estimations that will put it back on air here on Saturday 21st April (based on the delay for Series 10 episodes).
I fear you might be creating a non-existent story out of a standard scheduling break!
Do you have solid evidence behind your statement, or have you just presumed? hmm?
