Nine News Sydney’s Davina Smith departs

Nine News Sydney presenter Davina Smith is departing after a decade in the city, moving back to Toowoomba to be closer to family.

Per TV Tonight, Smith will remain within the Nine Entertainment company, taking on a reporter role for A Current Affair.

Having spent the last ten years in Sydney, Smith has held various news presenter roles including for Nine Morning News and Nine Afternoon News.

Overall, she has been with Nine for over twenty years, holding positions at WIN News in Rockhampton, Toowoomba, and the Sunshine Coast, as well as the TODAY Show and Nine News Brisbane.

In an email to staff, seen by Mumbrella, Simon Hobbs, Sydney’s director of news, said: “While we’ll miss her presence here in Sydney, I’m happy to say Davina will remain part of the Nine family as she takes on a new role as a reporter for A Current Affair.

“For over a decade, Davina has been a key figure in our newsroom, known for her agility and impact as a live news presenter. Her composure and professionalism on-air, especially during rolling coverage of major events, has been remarkable.”

Mumbrella understands Smith’s last day in Sydney will be December 5.
