Nine says ‘We are the one’ in major 2018 promotion push
Nine Entertainment has kicked off its promotional efforts for 2018, promoting itself as ‘The One’ for all things entertainment and sport with flying Ninjas, umbrellas and spinning chairs.
The new ads, which have been made for Australia’s five metro cities, feature the hosts of different programs including Shaun Micallef, Sophie Monk, Hamish Blake and Andy Lee, as well as sports stars across netball, NRL and cricket.
Each advertisement also has a local touch, with newsreaders from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane featured in their respective states. Perth newsreaders were not included in a promotion. Late last year, The West Australian reported Tim McMillan and Emmy Kubainski had been axed as part of a “broader change of direction”. Their replacements are yet to be announced.
New co-host of The Today Show Georgie Gardner is also seen in the advertisements. Gardner commences her new role on January 22.
The promotional ads feature the tagline ‘We are the one’, a move away from Nine’s well known ‘We’re still the one’, which was used for decades.

Feel that the novelty of Sophie will wear off quickly, and Hamish & Andy are in their twilight years. Losing Lisa will make close to zero difference, I’m over The Block don’t care about The Voice. Ninja will grow, despite Fordham.
