Nine to farewell Richmond studios

The Nine Network will air a live tribute show to its Bendigo Street studios, and the shows that were produced there; it will be  called Lights, Camera, Party – Television City Celebrates.

“The last Hey Hey It’s Saturday from Studio 9 and our tribute show will be a fitting send-off to our proud, old studios,” said Nine’s recently appointed managing director, Jeff Browne.

GTV-9’s Studio 1 was the first studio at Bendigo Street, and the home of In Melbourne Tonight, with Graham Kennedy. Other programs produced out of GTV-9/Television City include The Tarax Show, Concentration, New Faces, It Could Be You, Hunter, Division 4, Cartoon Corner, A Current Affair, Hey Hey it’s Saturday, The Graham Kennedy Show, The Ernie Sigley Show, The Don Lane Show, The Sullivans, The Paul Hogan Show, Sale Of The Century, The Flying Doctors, Chances, All Together Now, The Price is Right, The Footy Show, Halifax f.p., Burgo’s Catch Phrase, Stingers, Who Wants to be a Millionaire and Millionaire Hot Seat.

The Bendigo era will come to an end as the network moves out of that facility; the network announced a long-term deal with Docklands Studios Melbourne last month, and will base its live television production requirements out of Docklands.

The tribute show will be hosted by Bert Newton on November 27 at 9:30pm.
