Nine to launch Aussie version of The Secret Millionaire
Nine is to launch an Australian version of reality show The Secret Millionaire, which follows wealthy Australians as they go undercover donating cash to worthy causes.
The show – which also has versions in the US and UK – follows the millionaires who attempt to live on a minimum wage and immerse themselves in the lives of battling Australians. They then decide who deserves to be given thousands of dollars from their own fortunes.
The UK version of the show screens on Foxtel’s The Lifestyle Channel on Saturday nights. Nine’s version – narrated by film star Russell Crowe makes it debut on October 8.
The local production is one of several local versions of international franchises currently dominating Australian TV.
Ten’s rating sblockbuster Masterchef Australia followed the BBC version in the UK, while The Apprentice Australia premieres on Nine on Monday night after succesful series in the UK and US.
Ho Hum,
Another round of crappy reality shows that have been on before from other countries.
Cant we produce something new instead of copying the same tired old formats using people we have never heard of.
When they talk about pay television, we should be paid to watch!!!!!

Argh….why can’t Australia come up with good original shows any more?!?!
I did not mind the UK version, but like the Apprentice which is EPIC FAILing at present, this will do the same.
