Nine wins night with The Block while Ten struggles with repeats of Modern Family

the block glasshouseNine’s The Block Glasshouse trumped Seven’s X Factor Live Performances, with nearly 1.5m metro viewers tuning in for the renovation reality TV show while The X Factor attracted a metro audience of 1.29m.

The Block helped Nine win the night, with an audience share of 24.2 per cent, according to OzTam overnight ratings. The Block was the most watched show across all demographics.

However, Ten’s double billing of repeat episodes of Modern Family, including the Australia episode which aired at the end of April, saw the channel only manage an audience share of 8.9 per cent, less than half of Nine and Seven. The first episode was watched by 367,000 metro viewers before the audiences climbed to 481,000 for the Australia episode. When it originally aired it was watched by metro audience of 1.049m.

In the news battleground Nine was the winner with a metro audience of 1.321m viewers while Seven News was watched by 1.260m metro viewers at 6pm.

60 Minutes, which had an exclusive story on the London banker who fell in love with Bali Nine drug smuggler Scott Rush and aired directly after The Block at 7.45pm, grabbed a metro audience of 1.056m metro viewers.

Seven’s Sunday Night, which aired in a later timeslot at 8.45pm after X Factor, had a metro audience of 1.021m and helped Seven to an audience share of 23 per cent.

A new episode of Bondi Vet, airing at 6.30pm, had a metro audience of 393,000 and Ten’s Sunday night movie  Star Trek was watched by a metro audience of 377,000 from 8.30pm. Nine’s Sunday night movie Casino Royale was watched by 547,000 metro viewers in the 9pm timeslot.

ABC1’s lineup of Grand Designs Revisited and Anzac Girls ensured the channel beat Ten with an audience share of 13.6 per cent.

Grand Designs Revisited, showing at 7.41pm, attracted a metro audience of 969,000 while Anzac Girls was watched by an audience of 875,000 metro viewers. Last week’s episode of Anzac Girls was watched by an extra 194,000 viewers during the week, taking its total audience to 1.249m.
