Nine wins the night but Hard Quiz keeps delivering for ABC

The performances of programs including Nine News, A Current Affair and Travel Guides helped Nine to a nightly ratings win on Wednesday, taking a 28.3% share.

That placed the network ahead of Seven on 26.4%, Ten with 19.5% and the ABC on 17.2%. Nine also won the primary channel share with 19.4%.

Travel Guides brought in an average of 631,000 metro viewers for Nine, but it wasn’t enough to take out the #1 non-news program on the night, which was taken by Hard Quiz (636,000 metro viewers).

It’s the second week in a row that Hard Quiz has been the top rating entertainment program among metro markets, as the Tom Gleeson-hosted program continues to perform for the ABC.

Among other entertainment programming, Seven’s Big Brother aired to 562,000 metro viewers and Ten’s MasterChef Australia took in 513,000 metro viewers.

Big Brother managed to claim two of the three key advertising demos for Seven, winning People 16-39 and People 18-49.

The #1 program of the night was Seven News which brought in 1.024 million metro viewers for Seven and was the only program to top the million mark.

It was followed by Seven News At 6.30 which had 966,000 metro viewers, then Nine News with 954,000 metro viewers and Nine News 6.30 with 953,000 metro viewers. Nine News also won the People 25-54 demo.

The top-rating multi-channel on Wednesday night was 10 Bold, which took in a 4.2% audience share.
