Ninemsn appoints Alex Stewart

Alex Stewart has been appointed to the role of chief financial officer and strategy director at Ninemsn.  

The announcement:

Sydney, Australia, Friday 10th September 2010: ninemsn CEO Joe Pollard today announced that Alex Stewart has been appointed to the new role of Chief Financial Officer and Strategy Director.

Stewart is a well known and respected leader in the industry having been at Microsoft since 1996, where he most recently held the position of General Manager Consumer & Online for Australia and New Zealand.

Stewart is a highly experienced digital executive spending time in both in Australia and the US in regional and local roles. During his time at Microsoft, he had roles spanning product strategy, marketing,advertising sales and business operations. He also spent some time in the ninemsn business between 2000 and 2003 as Director of Business Operations.

He will report to Joe Pollard and will be responsible for managing the strategy, business development, M&A, research, finance and legal functions of ninemsn.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Stewart was a management consultant with Bain & Company in the US. He began his career with the LEK Partnership in Sydney as an associate consultant before moving to the US to becoming a business planning consultant with the Center for Technology Transfer at the University of Pennsylvania.

Stewart will join ninemsn on October 11th.
