NineMSN wants to talk to rival online offering Yahoo!7 about collaborating over its advertising exchange in Australia.
The comments from new CEO Mark Britt after Microsoft, AOL and Yahoo agree a tie up in the US.
Advertising exchanges allow advertisers to bid in real time for each ad impression.
The Microsoft Ad Exchange launched in Australia last week.
The ambition was revealed by NineMSN’s new CEO Mark Britt. He told Mumbrella: “We are really excited to hopefully have the opportunity to talk to Yahoo about whether opening the same sort of exchange might work in Australia as well.”
Britt also claimed that worries from publishers that ad exchanges would commoditise inventory puzzled him. He said: ‘We don’t get it.”
In Australia, NineMSN already has a tie-up with Yahoo!7 over search.
theory is good, reality is there is more supply than demand. Spose they need to do something given their revenue is in reverse gear.
Sorry Frank Black you are incorrect – online media grew more than any other media in the past 12 months
@kate…. total page views (and ads) has grown at a considerably faster rate than ad demand. This has pretty much always been the case, have a look at how many of the “top” publishers are running house ads.
what’s not to get about giving your inventory to an already oversaturated supply pool. surely he doesn’t delude himself that prices will go up?
Good call Mark, totlly agree with your position. We are seeing real performance being demonstrated via the exchange platforms in the market and tis will lead to increased use of digital as a key business driver. Keep pushing mate, the results will speak for themselves!
