Ninemsn launches new financial site
Online publisher Ninemsn has launched its new financial platform – Ninemsn finance.
The announcement:
Sydney, Australia, January 18, 2011: ninemsn, Australia’s largest online publisher, has launched ninemsn Finance. Described as an “online financial toolbox”, the site has been designed to help Australians better understand business news, manage their money and keep up with market information.
ninemsn Finance features easy-to-navigate content, including business and market news, currency and share market data, as well as information about loans, credit and small business. ninemsn Finance features authoritative commentary from experts such as Robert Gottliebsen and Ross Greenwood, as well as the most comprehensive set of free finance tools in Australia.
“With ninemsn Finance, we have created a finance site that is for real people, not high-flying fund managers,” says Hal Crawford, ninemsn’s Head of News. “We have managed to include a large amount of financial information without overwhelming users or hiding content, making it easy to understand and easy to find what you are looking for.”
ACP title Money magazine will also have a customised site within ninemsn Finance, featuring content directly from the magazine, as well as exclusive web-only content. Other features of the site include Rate Your Place – the popular Australian suburb review and rating tool – and the Executive Suite, which will house business lifestyle and opinion pieces and will be sponsored by Blackberry.

Not a bad looking site at all, at least on the homepage (http://finance.ninemsn.com.au/), but the leaderboard banner before the main content on (eg) http://finance.ninemsn.com.au/personal-finance/ completely ruins the look and feel. Horribly so, the more I look at it actually.
Much of the comparison powered by Rate City, it’ll be interesting to see how they do on SEO and traffic – I know they’ve had some SEO specialists contracted to work with MSN for a while now…
