Nine’s AFP picked up by TV3 in New Zealand

Nine’s Australian Federal Police (AFP) has been bought by New Zealand’s TV3 NZ with the series to launch next Tuesday.

AFP: Australian Federal Police, the new observational documentary series from Zapruder’s other films will make its international debut in New Zealand later this month, following its sale to TV3 NZ.

“The stories in this series have universal appeal, revealing the extraordinary work police do that we never normally see” says Executive Producer Andrew Denton. “So I’m delighted AFP will screen on TV3.”

The sale will see the series launch on the popular channel on May 17.

AFP: Australian Federal Police follows agents as they undertake major operations dealing with people smuggling, counter terrorism; bomb disposal, international drug syndicates; child sex exploitation and disaster victim identification. Three years in the making, the series was filmed in more than eight countries.

Debuting on the Nine Network on Tuesday 26 April, the first episode of the eight-part series won its timeslot watched by 1.248 million people across Australia, making it the third most watched program of the night and the network’s highest rating show for the evening. A second series is now in post-production.

It screens Tuesdays 8pm on Channel Nine.
