Nine’s The Big Ideas Store pop-up kicks off at Sydney’s Beta Events in two weeks

Nine’s The Big Ideas Store is returning for its sixth year at Beta Events in Sydney CBD from the 15th to the 19th of May.

The pop-up event, organised by Nine’s Powered marketing services team, will feature topics like cost-of-living pressures, changing consumer habits forever, brands greenwashing, cancel culture and the effect of artificial intelligence on creativity.

The event will run a session with Initiative discussing the topic of cancel culture and how businesses, brands and individuals navigate a world filled with outrage and social unacceptability.

New research developed with cultural insights agency FiftyFive5, will also be launched at the event, centred around consumer spending and identity and self-expression.

In part it will delve into how brands can deliver value for consumers that are rapidly changing their spending and emotional habits, sharing the drivers of where consumers see value from brands given the current economic pressures and how brands can respond to this changing landscape. Additional research explores which consumers live their identity and the role brands play in supporting people’s self-expression, from diversity to increased personalisation in the products and services that they engage with.

Some of the personalities featured include GroupM’s Amiee Buchanan; Mike Rebelo from Publicis; Wavemaker’s Shivani Maharaj; the AANA’s Josh Faulks; Colin Glynn from McDonalds; PHD’s Gemma Dawkins; Mike Spirkovski from Rethink Everything; and Nine talents including Karl Stefanovic, Russel Howcroft, Osman Faruqi and Sandy Jawanda.

Personalities set to attend the event

Powered national director Nicki Kenyon said last year’s event saw some 15,000 visits either virtually or in-person and that The Big Ideas Store is now firmly cemented as a “must-see” annual event that “engages the industry and sparks conversation on the power of big ideas”.

“Never has there been such a need for big ideas and brands understanding the importance of driving business results through brilliantly-executed creativity,” Kenyon said.

“The sessions will feature fresh perspectives and valuable insights from some of the country’s most renowned business leaders on a range of topics affecting brands and the role marketing plays in growing business.”
