Nine’s The Block tops the TV ratings as Seven wins the week

The success of Nine’s The Block wasn’t enough to stop Seven narrowly winning the TV battle this week, with 19.5% share for its main channel compared to Nine’s 19.2%.

The story was the same on a network level, with Seven Network attracting 29.6% of the audience compared to Nine’s 28.1%, according to OzTAM data.

The extra boost from a network level came in part from Seven’s multichannel 7mate, which on Thursday night managed to achieve a higher share than SBS’ main channel.

The Block’s winner announcement was the most-watched show of the week with 2.021m metro viewers, while the grand final episode achieved 1.685m viewers.

Nine also had the most-watched news show of the week, with 934,000 metro viewers. Seven’s most-watched show was its news show, with the most popular show of the week attracting 902,000 metro viewers.

Ten’s biggest show of the week was Gogglebox, with 722,000 metro viewers.

ABC managed to beat Ten in both main channel and network share for the week, attracting a 12.9% share for its main channel compared to Ten’s 11.5%. On a network level, ABC achieved 17.7% while Ten achieved 16.5%.

SBS achieved a 5.7% share on its main channel and 8.1% on a network level.
