‘No conspiracy here’: CRA responds to radio ratings removal
Commercial Radio and Audio (CRA) has denied any conspiracy following the removal of over a decade of historical ratings data from its website .
The removal of the ratings data was first reported by Unmade over the weekend, and comes after CRA recently revamped its website. Unmade’s Tim Burrowes speculated that the removal may have been to avoid transparency on audience trends. He also conceded it may have been accidental.
A CRA spokesperson confirmed the removal was deliberate, but said it came about because of the website data’s unpopularity.
“There’s no conspiracy here,” said a CRA spokesperson in a written statement.
“Before we relaunched the website a month ago, we found the historical ratings data was amongst the least trafficked pages.”
The spokesperson said that “agencies obviously have access, via GfK systems, and most media simply come directly to the CRA comms team when they need historical data analysis.”
CRA said it “regularly provides these analyses when asked” and that radio is “one of the most trusted and transparent mediums and remains committed to being so.”
The past twelve months of radio ratings data remains on the CRA website.
