Nova Entertainment Drive host Tim Blackwell launches music podcast

Tim Blackwell, a member of Nova’s successful national drive show, is taking putting his years of interview experience to the test in a new podcast offering.

Chatting to musicians for almost two decades since joining Nova in 2001, Blackwell is starting his own passion project titled ‘Introducing with Tim Blackwell’.

Introducing with Tim Blackwell will launch as a six-part series from Monday, 30 November.

The new podcast will be presented by Nova Podcasts and produced in partnership with Pro Podcast Production, and each week Blackwell will chat to talented local and international musicians.

Chats locked in for the podcast include Yungblud, Tyne-James Organ, Haiku Hands, Peking Duk, The Delta Riggs and DMA’s.

Blackwell said part of the reason for starting the podcast was missing going to gigs during the COVID pandemic.

“Before COVID I was seeing around two gigs a week and basically being a groupie in the band room… I thought it was about time I got serious and stuck a microphone in their faces,” he said.

“There are so many amazing artists out there and I want this to be a space for them to own, to chat, play some tunes and have a beer and talk about themselves… If the drinks are cold the artists will follow… that’s my plan anyway!

“I’m just so excited to be able to talk music with people who are in the game. I was never cool enough to be in a band so this is my sure-fire way to get an access all areas pass and have a reason to be lurking backstage!”

The Kate, Tim and Joel drive show airs weekdays from 3pm to 6pm on the Nova Network.
